Staff Update: Corley departs as executive director after successful three-year tenure

Today is bittersweet, as we share news of Michael Corley’s departure as Executive Director of Conestee Nature Preserve. Prior to his role at CNP, Michael spent his career practicing the law as an environmental attorney, and an exciting opportunity has drawn him back into the legal field.

Under Michael’s leadership and direction, Conestee Nature Preserve experienced tremendous growth. His success in raising funds for the Preserve led to many great developments.

Our Education program has doubled the number of students reached through field trips. Our staff has grown, as have our employee benefits. We’ve acquired and protected more land under our conservation easement, added trails, and separated ourselves from the Conestee Dam, as it’s now in the capable hands of the Trust leading the way on its replacement. Our successes over the past 3 years are numerous, and we are grateful to Michael for leading our team during this time. We extend our best wishes to Michael and his family!

Moving forward, Erin Knight (formerly Operations Director), has been named Interim Executive Director. She will be working with Michael and the Board of Directors to ensure a successful transition for Conestee Nature Preserve.
