About the event

July's focus will be species found in the preserve during the Summer!

Conestee Nature Preserve is a birding hotspot in the Upstate! Our location and the diversity of habitats provide the perfect landing spot for lots of different bird species. This event is great for those who have never put on a pair of binoculars or for those just getting started with their birding journey.

During the workshop you will learn:

  • How to use binoculars, which we will provide for every participant.
  • The key characteristics to look for when trying to identify a bird.
  • Scientific terminology that will help you when looking at field guides.
  • Which apps and field guides we recommend.

WHERE

We will meet at the River Entrance (widely considered our main entrance) at 840 Mauldin Rd. Gather under the archway at the trailhead (A on our Map).

WHEN Please plan to arrive by 7:45 a.m. so the program can begin promptly at 8:00 a.m.

WEATHER If the weather is not cooperative, we will communicate by e-mail should we need to cancel.

CANCELLATION POLICY Cancellations must be made 3 days prior to the event for a full refund.
