About the event
Conestee Nature Preserve is a birding hotspot in the Upstate! Our location and the diversity of habitats provide the perfect landing spot for lots of different bird species. This event is great for those who have never put on a pair of binoculars or for those just getting started with their birding journey.
During the workshop, you will learn:
How to use binoculars, which we will provide for every participant.
The key characteristics to look for when trying to identify a bird.
Scientific terminology that will help you when looking at field guides.
Which apps and field guides we recommend.
In March, we will focus on waterfowl. Several different species of ducks and wading birds spend the winter in Conestee. Come learn more about these migratory species as well as our year-round residents like the Mallard and the Wood Duck.
