CNP Homeschool Days - Days of Their Lives

Homeschool Days at Conestee Nature Preserve is open to children ages 5-11 years old.  You will drop your child off with us to spend the day exploring and learning about the natural resources found at CNP. We host 3 homeschool days in the fall and 3 more in the spring. This event is a duplicate of our March 23, 2026 event.

May 13th - Our theme will be all about life cycles! 

Early spring is such a magical time in the Preserve! Waterfowl are watching over their nests, songbirds are busy building nests, amphibians are calling all over the place, and the flowers start blooming! During this session, students will hunt for salamander eggs and other "babies" in the forest. They will learn about different types of metamorphosis demonstrated by animals that live on land and in the water. The older students will also take some time to compare the life cycle of plants and fungus. 

TO COMPLETE YOUR REGISTRATION

You MUST complete this GOOGLE FORM at the time of registration. This includes our waiver as well as additional information about your child(ren) that we need in order to prepare for the program. You will only need to complete this once for the 2025-2026 school year.

WHEN

Wednesday, May 13, 2026, 9:30AM-1:00PM

WHERE

We will update you with an exact meetup location the week of the event. Sometimes rain events create trails that are impassable. Make sure you look for an email update a day or two before the event.

COST

$10 for 1st child, $8 for additional children (SALES CLOSE May 8th at noon)

WHAT TO BRING

Water bottle and a snack or lunch. We will take a break around 11:00am so that students can use the restroom and have something to eat. Please send your student(s) with a snack or lunch to eat during this break. The lunch boxes are typically stored in a staff member's hot car during the morning portion of the program so please pack accordingly. 

TEACHING GROUPS

There will be 3 teaching groups with 14-18 students in each group. The groups are formed based on age. We typically pair up 5-6 year olds, 7-8 year olds, and 9-11 year olds. Some exceptions may apply. Each teaching group will have 2 adults with them at all times. 

WEATHER

If the weather is not cooperative, you will be notified via email the morning of the program. The email will be sent by 8:15am so please check your email before leaving your house if the weather looks iffy. If we need to cancel due to the weather, CNP will try to reschedule the event. Refunds will be issued for weather cancellations.

CANCELLATION POLICY

Cancellations must be made 3 days prior to the event for a full refund.
