Knee-high Naturalists is an environmental education program for our tiniest naturalists, ages 2-4. Each session will include activities that will engage you and your child, and may include book readings, fine/gross motor skill development, sign language, songs, and more!

About the event

TOPICS

  • September 7th and 9thJ is for Journey - Get packed and ready to go as we learn about why animals, like insects, migrate!
  • October 12th and 14thK is for Katydid - What's a Katydid...find out as we explore the world of insects?!
  • November 9th and 11thL is for Leaves - We'll discuss the life cycle of (deciduous) trees, as they begin their annual change.
  • February 22nd and 24thM is for Metamorphosis - Find out which animals go through exciting changes as they grow up!
  • March 7th and 9thN is for Nocturnal Neighbors - Who's coming out at night in the preserve's neighborhood?
  • April 11th and 13thO is for Otter - Let's explore the world of silly, slipping and sliding otters.
  • May 9th and 11thP is for Party - We're having a party, but we have to make sure we keep pollution out of the preserve.

REGISTRATION CLOSES AT MIDNIGHT THE TUESDAY BEFORE CLASS. This allows us time to plan. If you miss the deadline, you may email jim@conesteepreserve.org to determine if there is still space for your child.

WHO

2-4 year olds with a parent or guardian

COST

1st child is $10 (includes 1 parent), additional children or parents are $8 each.

WHERE

Meetup locations will change each session. Registered participants will be emailed prior to the event to let you know where we are meeting. Please add jim@conesteepreserve.org to your contact list so that the event emails do not get lost in your spam folder.

WHAT TO BRING Please bring a water bottle. Sunscreen and bug spray should be applied before class if needed.

HEALTH AND SAFETY

This event will take place entirely outside in open air, with distancing possible in most situations.

Please do not attend the event if you are feeling ill. In the event of such cancellations, we are happy to issue a refund.

CANCELLATIONS

We will cancel if we have less than 6 participants, so encourage your friends to sign up with you! Cancellations by participants must be made 1 week prior to the event for a full refund. If the event is cancelled by CNP or due to COVID related concerns, full refunds will be issued.
